Avoiding Honey Pots

Have you ever wondered why sewer backup is included on your homeowner’s policy?

If you live in a certain area of Moore, you already know the answer to this question.  Even city sewer systems have problems and can cause a backup into your home.  You never know whose little kid has been dropping toys down that mysterious black hole in the back yard.

Many of our customers’ homes have septic systems.  If not taken care of properly, these things are notorious for causing problems ranging from minor (having to replace the lateral lines) to major and needing the whole system replaced.  If you’re just purchasing a home with a septic system, be sure to ask if there are any issues with it and the last time it was emptied.

Want to know how to keep one of these out of your backyard?

There are several products on the market made especially for septic tanks.  But it can be as simple as dropping a packet of yeast into the toilet bowl once a month.  You can even pour a beer down the drain, as it has enough bugs to keep the tank digesting happily.  Sacrilege, I know, but it does work.  It does not, however, help the septic system when beer is consumed first, then deposited into the septic.  It must be sacrificed in its pure form.  Keeping the septic system happy keeps unpleasant things from bubbling back up into your house.

And, thanks to your trusty insurance agents, you have coverage on your policy for just such an occasion.
