Umbrella Coverage

Umbrella Coverage Information

What is an Umbrella Policy?

An umbrella policy is additional liability coverage.  It can be attached to your auto or homeowner's policy, and is designed to be an extension of your liability.  Most companies require you carry higher limits of liability, then the umbrella is another 1 or 2 million on top of that.  This is important to consider if you have a lot of assets to lose, in the case you are ever sued for anything.  If the lawsuit/claim exhausts the primary liability, the umbrella picks up the excess.  Most companies have these available, and the annual premiums are very reasonable.
